GT 20 1938

Alce 1939-1945

Cicogna ca. 1939

A 499cc single based on the Alce, with somewhat lower gearing to accompany the use of skis, it is believed to have been commissioned by the Finnish Army who were soon defending themselves against the Russians (who seem to be in the habit of invading their peaceful neighbours) in the Winter War.

Moto Guzzi P Series

The P series models included P175 (introduced 1932), 1934 246cc P250 & PE250 (E for Elastico, rear suspension) PES (sport), 1937 PL250 and PLS250 (L for Lamiera, pressed-metal frame - or, according to another source L for Leggera), PLS 1938. The 1939 PES250 was given the Airone name, whilst the two rigid-framed models were named Egretta (lusso) and Ardetta (normale)

The Moto Guzzi 250cc Egretta was only made for two years (1938-39) and is a cross between the earlier "P Series" and the soon to be famous Airone models. The machine has the frame and chassis of the earlier 175cc models but was fitted with the newer 250cc motor.
