Based on the Condor, the pre-war Albatros was an SOHC designed by Carlo Guzzi and his right-hand man Carcano. It had electron crankcases, 200mm electron front brake and alloy wheel rims. Guzzi won the 1940 Italian 250cc championship with Lorenzetti in command.
Postwar:
The 250 Albatros reappeared after the war and enjoyed considerable success. Between 1946 and 1948 Moto Guzzi won over 800 races, with the Albatros gaining more laurels than any other Guzzi of the era. Nino Martelli, Tenni and Lorenzetti all took the Italian 250 championship on the Albatros in those years.
Riding an Albatross at the 1947 IOM races Irishman Manliff Barrington took the Lightweight TT.
The Gambalunghino replaced the Albatros in 1949.
