Motobécane D45
In brief : la MOTOBECANE D45 |
The Motobécane D45 is most certainly, along with its competitor the Peugeot type 55, the most popular machine in the history of French motorcycles.
|
|
It appeared at the end of the war, in 1945. It was an economical, robust model with reliable mechanics. The engine, a 125cc single-cylinder four-stroke with side valves, was directly derived from the 100cc model published in the 1939 catalogue. On the first model, the D45A, the front suspension was a parallelogram, there was no rear suspension... it was the saddle that was responsible for absorbing road imperfections. The gearbox was a three-speed with a control lever placed at the front right of the tank.
With the following model, the rear suspension appeared, then a telescopic front fork. On the D45S model, the throttle control was finally a twist grip and, supreme refinement, the handlebar was fitted with a button for the horn!
The D45 was produced by Motobécane et Motoconfort (sous l'appellation B1) (under the name B1) until 1954.
