The Mondial 175cc TV, or 'Turismo Veloce', was Mondial's first street bike to employ a chain-driven single overhead camshaft engine. The SOHC Mondials were available in three versions: Turismo Veloce, Sport Turismo, and Gran Sport.
The TV was designed for fast sport touring. The whole production was characterized by a remarkable build quality accompanied by an unmistakable style, inspired by the bikes that in those years won laurels throughout the racing world.
In December 1954, the 175 Turismo Veloce and Sport models from the Pietro Prampolini project were presented at the Milan Motor Show. In this first configuration they were distinguished by the narrow cambox cover with centred bolts.
These machines remained in the catalogue until 1957, while the Sport was replaced in 1958 by the Gran Sport model, the last of the chain-driven SOHC series. However, it should not be confused with the previous OHC GS 175 of 55/56, which was no longer in the catalogue due to the high production cost.
The last year of production for the 'TV' was 1958.
