MODEL "L/R2 " 3.47 H.P. & MODEL "V/2" 4.95 H.P. SUPER SPORTS

These two Models are Identical except for the engine, the Model "L/R2" being fitted with the famous "Matchless" overhead camshaft engine, a pioneer of its type, and the Model "V/2" with the most efficient example existing of a two-port o.h.v. Super-Sports engine, with push rod operated overhead valve gear.

Numerous detail improvements are incorporated for the 1929 season, including increased ground clearance, larger saddle, and instantly adjustable shock absorbers. Performances put up by these Models during the 1928 season have made them famous throughout the world. One performance only need be mentioned here, namely, the winning of the Hutchinson Hundred Race at Brooklands, in August, 1928, by Mr. P. Brewster, on a Model "V/2" Special, at an average speed of 93.52 m.p.h., for 100 miles.

LEADING FEATURES.

ENGINE. Model "V2" two-port 495 c.c. push rod o.h.v. engine, with valve gear totally enclosed and automatically lubricated, overhead rockers carried on large diameter roller bearings, push rods totally enclosed by telescopic tubes, aluminium piston, full floating gudgeon pin, roller bearing big end with direct oil feed, and all other latest features.

Model "L/R2" single-port 347 c.c. overhead camshaft engine, with roller bearings throughout.

GEAR-BOX. "Sturmey-Archer" 3-speed close ratio, with kick-starter.

GEAR-CONTROL. Carried on special frame bracket alongside tank.

LUBRICATION. Engine, by duplex oil pump with sight feed. Cycle parts by grease gun.

SILENCER. On Model "V/2," two 1½" exhaust pipes with two nickel-plated silencers and large detachable fishtails. Model "L/R2," one pipe and silencer only.

STANDS. To both wheels, "Matchless" patent spring-up stand at rear.

TANKS. Pressed steel saddle tank, with white cellulose panels, as described on page 5. Separate oil tank below saddle. Kneegrips, standard. Petrol, 2 gallons; oil, 3 pints.

TRANSMISSION. All chain, with "Matchless" patent friction controlled shock absorber.

FRAME. "Matchless" trussed frame, with duplex torque stays.

FORKS. Heavyweight "Matchless"" spring forks, with progressive action compression spring and special shock absorbers instantly adjustable while the machine is in motion.

BRAKES. "Matchless"" 8" brakes on both wheels, both foot operated. Finger adjusted.

FOOTRESTS. Adjustable in every direction, with three optional pivot points. Redesigned footrest mountings to give greater ground clearance for fast cornering.

SADDLE. Large type Lycett " Aero" spring seat saddle, set remarkably low.

WHEELS. Built up with heavy gauge spokes on "Matchless" steel hubs, with Timken roller bearings.

TYRES. 26" x 3.25" Palmer Flexicord.

STEERING DAMPER. Adjusted by black ebonite finger-grooved knob above handlebars.

Finished in black, with white panels, usual parts heavily nickel-plated. Supplied complete with full kit of tools, tyre pump, grease gun, and instruction book.
