I recently found a few boxes of what looks to be a maserati motor bike in an old garage in NY. There is a chassis number of xa7777x; Can anybody be of assistance in identifying it and if its possible to restore? It is missing quite a few bit Ts and have begun a search but not very fruitful. thank you

Hello,
Looking for any information on repairing the mechanical on a 1956 Maserati Motorcycle and/or Italmoto prior to Orsi purchase. I'm hoping to be able to cross-reference parts share by other more available manufactures such as Ducati and MV Agusta or even Lambrettas!
I inherited the task of restoring the gearbox and motor to my sister's Maserati Turismo Lusso 125 T2. It's a beautifully restored bike, but it runs like it want's to self-destruct. After new tires and 4 mile ride, the clutch no longer worked, keeps popping out of 3rd gear, and won't rev much at all (will not reach power band).
Granted, it's a museum piece, but my sister would still like to enjoy an occasion ride whether it be a special event, parade, show, or to the coffee shop to up the cafe crowd. lol
So tell me if I'm crazy! I have two thoughts, restore the gearbox even if I have to find a competent machinist. Or find a modern engine, modify it to fit the frame, and keep the original motor for display!

• Your idea of a replacement engine has merit, as the cost of repairing the original may prove prohibitive. Others may have faced the same problem - the Italian Tingavert site listed under Italian Resources may prove helpful. Thanks for the kind words and for the *great* photo!

The only Maserati scooter in existence, a prototype marked M2. I have had the scooter for approximately twenty years. Not much is known about the scooter, only that it was completely handmade sometime in mid-late 1950s, when Maserati tried to break into the scooter market in Latin America, to compete with Vespa, Lambretta etc. The presentation took place in Mexico City. They had already started producing motorcycles Maserati + Italmoto.

I will be moving back to Italy, where I am from and where my daughter is now living with her husband, reason why I am planing to sell my Maserati at a fair price. The Maserati badge includes the name Alferez, supposedly in Spanish for Alfieri Maserati (The founder of Maserati).
