A Brief History of the Marque
Manufactured in Anzano del Parco, Milan, from 1898 to 1901 by Cesare and Michele Carcano.
When only seventeen Carlo Maserati (the first of the six brothers who went on to found the famous automobile company) already had clear ideas and at 18 as an apprentice in a bicycle factory he designed an auxiliary motor.
Production continued for some four years, during which Carlo experienced his first races.
On the 7th July 1901 a rider name Mazzoleni competed against others on Werner and De Dion machines on the cycling track in Cernobbio.
Bourdache suggests that Carlo may have used Werner engines in his racing machines.
