Founded in 1973 in Bidford-on-Avon, initially the firm restored vintage cars like the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, and then in 1974 began working with sidecars.
Their first model was offered in 1975 and was welcomed - sales doubled each year until they became the largest sidecar manufacturer in Europe, building over 1000 units per annum. Exports accounted for nearly 70 percent of production.
They pioneered the development of modern motorcycle sidecars in the early 1980s, and subsequent catalogs illustrated 10 different models including dual width sidecars, trailers, and commercial carriers.
Exports were strong to Egypt, Nigeria, Canada, Japan, and Kuwait. In 1988 Squire merged with Watsonian to form Watsonian-Squire, now the largest sidecar manufacturer in the United Kingdom.
