SHL M06-U

Speed characteristics of the S06 engine

In 1957, Kieleckie Zakłady Wyrobów Metalowych returns to its traditional production profile. The plant starts the production of the SHL M06-U motorcycle, developed by the design office of the Warsaw Motorcycle Factory. Engines with a swept volume of 0.148 drn3 were supplied with WFM. A novelty was the use of full-hub brakes with a drum diameter of 160 mm and a rubber intermediate element between the sprocket and the rear wheel hub. Compared to the popular WFM and WSK motorcycles, the motorcycle from Kielce was a vehicle of a higher standard. The aesthetic appearance of the vehicle was also influenced by deep mudguards, large brake drums, a high bench seat and a chromed exhaust system. This motorcycle was produced until 1959 and a total of 10,350 were made.

Lever engagement mechanism, located under the current cover of the engine, acting on the clutch through a pusher guided in the hole of the main shaft of the gearbox. The drive is transferred from the crankshaft to the clutch with a single sleeve chain Tl-9.525X5X7.5 with 44 links. Gear ratio 2.31 (30/13). Gear box with three ratios. Constantly meshing gears. Ratios for individual gears: Ib-2.935, IIb-1.486, IIIb-1.00. Shifting gears with a foot lever located on the left side of the engine. Drive output from the gearbox to the rear wheel on the right side of the engine. Transmission of the drive to the rear wheel with a single-row roller chain Rl-12-7X X8.51X7, 79 by 122 links. Gear ratio 3.36 (47/14). Chain tension adjustment with two reversible tensioners located at the ends of the rear swing arm arms. Between the sprocket and the rear hub, there is a drive damper in the form of a rubber disc with holes.

Chassis - Cradle frame, closed, double, welded from steel pipes with a rectangular cross-section. Two ball bearings embedded in the head tube. Passenger footrest brackets welded to the rear of the frame. Front wheel suspension on telescopic fork, with coil springs, without oil damping. Two sliding sleeves, 31 mm in diameter, pressed into each leg. Rubber covers. Fork shelves, upper and lower, made of pressed pressed metal. Front wheel travel 145 mm. Rear wheel suspension on trailing arm, with two spring elements, with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers. Rocker arm made of steel tubes, with a rectangular cross-section of 20X27 mm, mounted on turbax bushings. Rear wheel travel 95mm. Spoked road wheels, rims sized 1.85X19", made of steel. Axles of the wheels.

Braking and Steering - Brakes mechanically actuated, independent. Front and rear drum brakes, full hub. Light alloy cast brake drums with cast iron insert. Internal diameter of brake drums 160 mm. The surface of the friction linings is 232 cm2. The width of the friction linings is 40 mm. The hand brake is controlled by a Bowden cable, the foot brake is operated by a rigid link located on the left side of the motorcycle. Speedometer drive with a flexible shaft from the rear wheel. Handlebar made of steel tube, attached through brackets to the top shelf of the fork. Clutch and brake lever grips made of sheet steel, light alloy cast levers. Winding type "gas" twist handle.

SHL M06-T

In 1959, Kieleckie Zakłady Wyrobów Metalowych began production of a modernized motorcycle with a cylinder capacity of 148cc. In place of the existing front telescopic fork without oil damping, a "medium" push arm was used, cooperating with spring elements, with coil springs and double-acting hydraulic shock absorbers. The new type of front wheel suspension significantly improved driving comfort. Other changes in the SHL M06-T motorcycle compared to the previous model are: a new engine intake system, a new front lamp with a reflector with a diameter of 150 mm of the optical system and the installation of a brake light. This machine was produced until 1961, and a total of 23,370 of these motorcycles were made.
