Motron Mopeds

A Brief History of the Marque

Manufactured: 1975-2000 (and 1969-75 as Romeo)

Founded in Modena in 1961 by Edoardo Po as Romeo, the company changed its name to Motron in 1975.

Romeo was quite well established and built reputable Minarelli-powered mopeds, mini-bikes and quite attractive sports 50s which, during the mid to late 70s, were marketed under both labels.

The Motron company built single speed mopeds in models SA 50, RAG I, MST 50, Taxi, GTO, Oregon and others.

They also built an off-road 50cc motorcycle model XLE with a liquid-cooled engine which was well regarded.

The Sprint and Medalist mopeds were quite popular in the United States where they were marketed by Motron Corporation of America, California from 1978 into the 80s.
