Kaiser Microcars

A Brief History of the Marque

Kaiser Fahrzeugbau 1931-1939

The Kaiser Stromlinienwagen was a miniature sports car with three wheels, two at front and one at the rear. It was the most famous of the vehicles built by Theodor Kaiser.

It was built to order in the town of Oschersleben by an engineering firm of the same name and was in direct competition to the Neumann-Neander microcar. It was fitted with either an NSU Konsul 494cc or a Columbus-Horex engine and came with single or dual seat, independent front and rear suspension, and had a streamlined (hence Stromlinienwagen) body shape.

Columbus, DKW , JAP and NSU engines were fitted. Sizes ranged from 200cc to 494cc, the more powerful versions having a claimed top speed of 120km/h. Some models had uncowled front wheels. .

One of the unusual features of this rare car was the rear-opening passenger door.

The Kaiser works ceased production in 1939.
