A Brief History of the Marque
Established by Francisque Croizier de Ronzière at 8, rue Dumont d'Urville, Lyon1, the firm's first model appeared at the 9th Motor Show held at the Grand Palais in Paris from December 7 to 23, 1906.
Sales did not eventuate, and the firm entered receivership in December 1907. The patent was sold to Eugene Billion who released a new model using a 282cc engine. The marque used engines built to the original design with various improvements, and these engines were sold to Manufacture Lyonnaise de Motocyclettes Deronzière, a new company, from 1908 onwards in capacities of 232cc, 249cc and, in 1913, 283cc.
It is believed the marque also used engines from Peugeot and Zedel.
In 1913, the motocyclettes were marketed under the names Rupta and Superior, and around the same time by R.P.F. (Rivolier). In 1914 Ultima produced its first motorcycle, modelled closely on the Deronziere.
