A Brief History of the Marque
Atlas Engineering Co of Stoneleigh Works, Hill Street, Coventry built motorcycles from 1912 to 1914. It was established by Arthur John Edward Wain.
The Atlas was a short-lived marque built by a small firm in Coventry. They only made TT machines fitted with 492cc & 496cc JAP or Blumfield engines, using bought-in parts. It was a good looking machine finished in black and red. It had a torpedo tank held by plated bands, and Druid forks. In 1915 they advertised a coach-built sidecar. Motorcycle production is thought to have ceased early in the war.
Atlas were listed as bicycle manufacturers until 1932.
