MR. P. McF. COLQUHOUN.
After several years of intimate association with business and friendly society
work in Launceston, Mr. Parlane McFarlane Colquhoun passed away at his residence, 21 Brisbane-street, on Saturday at
the age of 60 years. He was a native
of Ararat, and for many years was engaged in the ironmongering business of
Messrs. Law and Oldfield, at Hawthorn
(Vic.). He came to Tasmania in 1895,
and entered the employ of Messrs. J.
and T. Gunn, on behalf of whom he subsequently took charge of Walbridge's paint
and paper shop in Charles-street. While
there he assumed the agency for Rover
bicycles. Later the deceased left the
employ of his firm, and began business
on his own account in Brisbane-street,
and manunufactured the Esk bicycles. At
this period he was vice-captain of the
City Cycling Club. Ultimately he sold
out to Mr. Sim. King. The late Mr.
Colquhoun was then elected grand secretary of the I.O.O.F., and held the position for a number of years...
