Craig Motorcycles

Craig Beat-All

George Craig had a cycle shop at 221 Rundle Street, Adelaide, and assembled both single and twin cylinder motorcycles using various engines. Pictured is an example with an 8hp JAP and a Sturmey Archer gearbox, available after 1915. The combination proved most successful and was the choice of many Australian assemblers.

The Craig sidecar outfit displayed belonged to R H O Johnson of Brompton who transferred the registration number from a previous 3½hp Craig.

The business was in operation at the Rundle St address, just east of Bent St, from around 1897 to 1938, and probably later.
