DAF Motorcycles and Three-wheelers

Established by Hub van Doorne in Eindhoven in 1928 the business became Van Doorne’s Aanhangwagen Fabriek, well known for commercial trailers and later for their trucks. DAF also built motorcycles and 3-wheelers. Designed in 1943, their three-wheeler prototype was named the "Mobile Raincoat" and was powered by an 80cc JLO engine mounted on the front wheel. The machine is narrow enough to squeeze through a normal front door, and reversing is achieved by rotating the front wheel 180 degrees.

In the early 1980s they produced an aircooled flat twin which had composite wheels and dual disc front brakes. This too may have been a prototype.
