Oscha Motorcycles

A brief history of the marque

With a name derived from that of the company owner, Otto Schaaf, these were manufactured in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg near Leipzig from 1924 to 1925. Only a few were built.

The factory was established in 1903 and produced a variety of products including crockery and small-arms which were exported to many countries.

Powered by a water-cooled 496cc horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine, the motorcycle was ridden by Otto Schaaf in endurance events with fine results. He was awarded a bronze medal for his performance in the gruelling Berlin-Zurich trial of 1003km in 1924.

N.B. It has been suggested that Oscha also built a two-stroke engine.
