A Brief History of the Marque
Manufactured 1900~1907
Munich firm built motorised bicycles with inclined single-cylinder and parallel twins mounted horizontally with one cylinder above the other.
Advertising reads: Jooss Söhne & Co., München: Zweirad-Motoren.
Tragatsch, listing the brand as "Joos", states that the Munich firm built horizontal twin-cylinder engines which they fitted to their own motorcycles. Later they used Fafnir singles and v-twins.
In 1902 their address was listed as:
The same name appears in 1883 on a patent, address Landau; in 1896 in documents about a water pumping station gives the address as Munich.
A reference to a 1923 security document reads, "Founded 1921 for the execution of buildings of every kind. 1922 purchase of the property Munich, Westendstr. 142. In April 1925 resolution of liquidation."
