The victorious Excelsior is bound to attract motorcyclists at the National, as Mr. T. Bayliss, jun., can be relied upon to make every effort to improve these already excellent machines. Although to all outward appearance the 2h.p. bicycle is the same as those most of us have been familiar with during 1903, there are many details that call for special mention. In lieu of the make and break contact, the well-known Bassee-Michel wipe contact and trembler coil has been adopted. Last season an extra charge was made for spray carburetters...

Britain's Duplex Pulley.
Motor cycles fitted with this device, which consists of a coned pulley with a round twisted belt wrapped twice around its circumference, will probably be found on the track or the terrace at the Crystal Palace during show week.
Chase Motors.
The 1904 Chase machine will have as a special feature the tank, which holds rather more than one and a half gallons. Every corner is utilised. Petrol flows round the side of and underneath the space for the accumulators, of which there are two, specially constructed by Peto and Radford, and each claimed to be good for a thousand miles. Trembler coils or plain coils will be fitted to taste. All levers will be cone adjusted, and cannot shake loose. The exhaust lever is of large size, allowing great nicety of control, and, in addition, the ordinary handle-bar-switch is fitted. Near the right handle are the front and rear brake levers. The exhaust, switch, and both brakes can be operated simultaneously by both hands. One of the special features is the wiring, which is well protected. The bicycle has a narrow-tread, the pedals easily clearing the machine without cranks being bent. The engines, which are vertical, are fitted in an excellent cradle. Those exhibited will be the 2¾ and 3½ h.p. M.M.C. and the 2¾ and 3 h.p. Ariel.
The Clarendon Motor Car and Bicycle Co., Ltd.,
are exhibiting twelve of their 3 h.p. Clarendon motor bicycles at Stand 69, they having decided to make this machine a standard pattern for 1904. All machines made by this firm will be fitted with their patent adjustable outside pulley bearing, which has been improved for next season...
